Al Noor Charitable Society

Al Noor Charitable Society runs completely on charity and is an absolutely a non profit organization. The Al Noor Charitable Society run four schools for underprivileged children from the poorest parts of Aligarh. The schools are rapidly growing and currently educate nearly 4000 children.

The Al Noor Charitable Society has been involved with children who were sadly deprived of any opportunity to receive any form of structured education. The society runs four schools, namely Madarsa Chacha Nehru, Madarsa Chacha Nehru ( Junior ), Madarsa-E-Alnoor and Bapu Public School, which are located in slum areas. The Parents of these children are employed as daily wages or temporary labor. The literacy rates among these children were 0.2% in 2002, when the school started and their families could not afford even government schooling. Our attempt is to ensure that all children under 14 with parents who earn as little or under INR 3,000 month receive an education with us. Children in these schools are provided with free books and course material free uniforms (socks, shoes, dresses and shorts and shirts and woolen cardigans in winter), free stationary (pencils, pens, erasers) and even a free midday meal to encourage more and more children to come to school. The children at the school come from such deprived and impoverished backgrounds that they have unfortunately had no exposure to any structured learning and have become used to simply spending their time roaming about the slums. Al Noor recognizes the impact of such hardships and the challenges that this will bring as children start their long path of structured learning. Al Noor’s pedagogic philosophy is not simply about teaching the students a common syllabus over a fixed period, we endeavor to provide structured learning to suit the development needs of the child as an individual, setting the learning aims and objectives on the child’s ability and capacity to learn. This in turn creates further interest for the child which further paves the child’s way to enjoyable and meaningful learning and education. What is unique about this initiative is that these students, children are empowered with 21st century skills. They are introduced to essential skills like English communication, fundamentals of Mathematics, importance of Health and Hygiene and usage of technology tools.
